Ingredients

  • 1 lb regular breakfast sausage
  • (with low fat sausage vegetable oil may be added to equal 1/4 c.)
  • gravy bowl, add in lowfat milk to desired amount of gravy - about 1 qt
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • salt and a good amount of black pepper, to taste

Directions

  1. Over medium heat, fry sausage in a large skilet, till brown but not burnt, mashing to a crumble stage.
  2. When brown, add in flour and, stiring all the time; watch the flour. When it gets golden, add in some salt and pepper.
  3. Turn up the heat and slowly add in the lowfat milk till all is in the skillet. Stirring all the time till boiling.
  4. At this point is where good gravy comes from. While stirring, watch the boiling gravy till it starts to thicken.
  5. If too thick, add in more lowfat milk. Keep boiling till fully cooked. Makes about 1 qt of gravy. Add in salt and pepper to taste.
