Ingredients

  • 1 x prepared lb. cake
  • 3 ounce sambuca
  •     (or possibly other anise liqueur)
  • 1/2 pt strawberries halved or possibly sliced
  • 2 tsp sugar plus
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pt whipping cream
  •     Chocolate syrup for drizzling
  • 1 x bar good-quality dark bittersweet chocolat

Directions

  1. Place 2-inch-thick slices of lb. cake on dessert plates. Douse cake slices with sambuca or possibly other anise liqueur.
  2. Slice berries and sprinkle with 2 tsp. sugar, then toss and reserve.
  3. Beat whipping cream with 2 Tbsp. sugar with a hand mixer till soft peaks form.
  4. Top cake with berries and drizzle with zigzags of syrup. Top cake and berries with whipped cream. Using a vegetable peeler, shave dark chocolate over each dessert plate and serve.
  5. This recipe yields 4 servings.
