Pinangat na Tilapia

Ingredients

  • 1 kilo Fresh Tilapia Fish
  • 10pcs Fresh tamarind
  • 2 big Fresh red tomatoes, cut into pieces
  • Ginger, crushed
  • Water
  • pinch of Salt and pepper to taste
  • Finger Chilies (optional)

Pinangat na Tilapia

Time: 15 minutes prep, 20 minutes cook
 
 

Directions

  1. Wash thoroughly and rub the fish with salt.
  2. Arrange the fish on the pot properly. Avoid the fish to be on top of the other if possible.
  3. Put just enough water on the pot. The water level should only barely cover the fish.
  4. Put the washed tamarind, tomatoes and crushed ginger onto the pot.
  5. Season the water with a salt and pepper.
  6. Put the pan under low heat once it starts to simmer.
  7. Let it cook for 15 minutes, fish should be cooked by now.
  8. Season more if necessary.
  9. Add the finger chilies.
  10. Let it boil for a few more minutes.
  11. Serve with rice.
