Spicy Shrimp Moroccan Style

Spicy Shrimp Moroccan Style by John Spottiswood

These prawns are absolutely fantastic. Every time I make them I marvel at the density and depth of the flavors. I typically leave the Cayenne pepper out of about half of them if I'm cooking for the whole family. I often serve these in combination with a Moroccan chicken, fish, or lamb dish, but they work fine on their own too.

Easy Sour Cream Biscuits

Easy Sour Cream Biscuits by Salad Foodie

Quick to the table because there's no cutting of shortening into flour mixture. Just stir in sour cream, knead lightly, pat out, cut and bake. Couldn't be simpler to get homemade biscuits on the table. I like to use up the tail end of the sour cream this way.

Lemon Pastry Squares (a.k.a Lemon Brownies) - a new take on Lemon Bars!

Lemon Pastry Squares (a.k.a Lemon Brownies) - a new take on Lemon Bars! by Salad Foodie

This recipe has been circulating around the Internet as “Lemon Brownies”, but I think it deserves a more descriptive name. These treats are a delicacy and are more “dainty” than brownies. They have no chocolate, are not brown, and NOT as sweet nor…

Meyer Lemon Yogurt Bundt Cake

Meyer Lemon Yogurt Bundt Cake by Foodiewife

I have made this recipe numerous times, as a loaf cake. I use Non-Fat Greek Yogurt, but any kind of yogurt will work well. The yogurt and oil (instead of butter) is the key to the moistness of the cake. While the cake is still warm, a simple syrup of lemon juice and sugar is poured on and the final touch is a simple lemon glaze.…

A very delicate crunch and hardly no fat to worry about baking them instead of frying. Grandma's recipe adapted to a healthier new way! Still full of flavor! Love potatoes? This is a must try!

Thai Short Ribs

Thai Short Ribs by Nancy Miyasaki

If you've had Korean short ribs, and loved them, you should definitely give these Thai short ribs a try! Short ribs, the flavorful, fatty cuts from the ends of the rib bones, may be my favorite red meat. Get the shorter, English cut short ribs if you can. The sauce is a classic Thai combination of hot, sour, salty, and sweet. A…

Cilantro Shrimp

Cilantro Shrimp by Nancy Miyasaki

This is a simple and absolutely delicious stir-fry shrimp dish. I've been looking for something easy and tasty like this. I have a new staple! I used a red chile sauce that we had on hand instead of the sambal oelek, and I added it selectively after stir frying to my husbands and my plates, but not to the kids plates. It was…

Don't you love it when you find a great summer side dish that is healthy and goes with many things, so you know you'll be making it over and over again? That's how I felt when I tasted this fabulous cabbage salad. It is truly delicious and VERY easy. It's adapted from Kalyn's kitchen.

Spicy Coconut Chicken Curry

Spicy Coconut Chicken Curry by John Spottiswood

This is more of an Indian than Thai curry, and has a condensed, pungent sauce. It is unusual and really wonderful. Curries are hit or miss with our kids, but they all loved this one (except for the peas...which meant more for me!) We served this with a brown/white rice mix and steamed brocco-flower. The sauce on this is so pungent…

Chef Mario Frittoli of ________ offers us a new version of a traditional Italian seaside dish. Sounds delicious to me! And it's really very easy to make. [Translator's Note: As in in so many Italian recipes, Chef Mario does not give measurements. I've added some suggested measurements here for English-speakers but feel free to…

Roasted Potatoes, Carrots, and Onions

Roasted Potatoes, Carrots, and Onions by John Spottiswood

This is a great side dish for roast beef, pork, or lamb. It would also be great with any grilled meat. The recipe is adapted from an America's Test Kitchen recipe that included brussels sprouts and excluded the onions. I love the flavor that the caramelized onions add to the potatoes and to the gravy if you make it, so I think they…
