Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, peeled, sliced thinly, and rinsed
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons maple syrup
  • 3 Tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon corn starch
  • 3 Tablespoons Grand Marnier or other brandy/liqueur
  • 1 Pillsbury Refrigerated Pie Crust
  • Egg-wash - whisk 1 egg yolk with 1/2 teaspoon water - Set aside

Directions

  1. Add to a sauce pan over high heat: apples, lemon juice, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, maple syrup, butter, cinnamon, cloves, corn starch and Grand Marnier. Bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer. Let cook for 5 minutes. Set aside and let cool for 15 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  3. Unfold 1 Pillsbury Pie Crust in a 9 inch glass baking dish. Add the cooked apples, and spread out, but leave about 2 inches around the outside of crust free of apples. Fold the edges over the apples, all the way around (as shown in our photo). Use a pastry brush to add egg-wash to the outer crust. Bake for 25 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
