Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 5 cups regular oatmeal - not steel cut (blended in a blender to a fine powder)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 24 ounces chocolate chips
  • 1 (8 oz) Hershey Bar, grated (or other chocolate bar)
  • 3 cups chopped walnuts or other nuts (optional)

Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie

Time: 15 minutes prep, 10 minutes cook
Servings: 112
 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 F.
  2. Cream the butter with the sugar and brown sugar. Add the eggs and vanilla, and mix together with the flour oatmeal, salt, baking powder, and soda. Add the chocolate chips, Hershey bar, and nuts if using.
  3. Form into balls and place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
  4. Place in oven and bake for 10 minutes.

I have a number of great chocolate chip cookie recipes. This is probably my kids' favorite. I'm not sure it's truly the original, but if it's not I can't imagine the original is much better! I love the way I can sneak the oatmeal in by grinding it to a powder and my kids don't even notice it! It may not make them health food, but I feel a little better. :-)

    I try not to eat more than one of these a day when Nancy bakes them. It is extremely difficult!

      wonderful cookies..and yes..bet you can't eat just one! they are dangerous! with an ice cold glass of milk....oh comfort food:-)! for a snowy day...

        I love this recipe, though mine differs just a little in ingredient quantities. Who knows if either one of us has the original recipe, but either way, they're delicious! I changed these up a little by omitting the chocolate chips and grated chocolate, and adding nutmeg, cinnamon, pecans and dried cranberries...it's my feeble attempt at making them "healthier." :-)

          I love chocolate chip cookies! :)
          It is one of my favorites. I have tried makin one myself but have not perfected it just yet. This will be a good recipe to follow too.

            ITS BEST TO USE REAL AMISH B UTTER I USE OR LAND OF LAKES IS THE NO 1 EXPENSIVE BUT NO WATER IN THE BUTTER AT ALL AND RICH BAKERY COOKIES ETC TRY IT!!!!! and cakes it worth it have won several 1st place ribbons at the fair out here in BURTON OH I LIVE IN MIDDLEFIELD OH AMISH COUTRY I WILL TRY T RECEIPE IN MY NEW KITCHEN AID MY SISTER B ME
