Naan

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp dry yeast
  • 250 ml warm water
  • 4 tsp sugar
  • 3 tbsp plain yoghurt
  • 80 g ghee(melted)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 500 g plain flour
  • Extra ghee or butter (melted)
  • 100 g garlic (chopped)

Naan

Time: 30 minutes prep, 10 minutes cook
Servings: 4
 

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 425 F
  2. Dissolve dry yeast in half of the water. Add sugar and set aside for 10 min to rise.
  3. Mix in yoghurt, remaining water, ghee, and salt. Knead flour into this mixture to make a stiff dough. Knead for 15 min.
  4. Set dough aside until it has doubled in volume.
  5. Divide dough into 10 balls. Form discs the size of a small dinner plate.
  6. Brush dough with extra melted ghee. Sprinkle with chopped garlic.
  7. Bake 10 min or till golden brown.
  8. Serve with dhal, yoghurt sauce, tandoori chicken... Pretty much anything!!!
