%20I%20took%20a%20sample%20home%20with%20me%20and%20goggled%20it:)%20Well,%20they%20weren't%20boysenberries,%20but%20they%20were%20Mulberry%20Trees!%20Yippee!!%20I%20found%20a%20wonderful%20blog%20called%20Century%20Farmhouse%20where%20they%20share,%20A%20Little%20Mulberry%20Heaven.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EI%20immediately%20called%20Kim%20and%20told%20her%20what%20they%20were.%20Like%20any%20good%20wife,%20she%20sent%20Bob%20back%20outside%20to%20pick%20the%20berries!%20He%20picked%20a%20gallon%20size,%20zip-lock%20baggie%20full%20of%20berries.%20I%20told%20him%20to%20freeze%20them%20until%20I%20could%20get%20back.%20Evidently,%20according%20to%20Bobby,%20(%20Yes,%20I%20still%20call%20him%20Bobby%20even%20though%20he%20is%2035%20years%20old)%20they%20aren't%20much%20fun%20to%20%22pick%22%20They%20stain%20your%20hands,%20clothes%20and%20anything%20else%20they%20come%20in%20contact%20with.%20I%20think%20it%20was%20a%20few%20weeks%20later%20before%20I%20got%20back%20for%20a%20visit%20and%20we%20(me,%20Kim%20and%20Bobby)%20picked%20a%205%20quart%20ice%20cream%20pail%203/4%20full.%20These%20yummy%20berries%20aren't%20fun%20at%20all%20to%20pick!%20Our%20hands%20were%20stained%20black,%20we%20were%20getting%20bitten%20up%20by%20mosquitoes,%20bees%20also%20loved%20the%20berries%20and%20the%20berries%20were%20hard%20to%20reach!%20BUT,%20they%20are%20so%20worth%20it!!%20Lesson%20learned~%20Next%20year,%20we%20are%20going%20to%20lay%20a%20large%20tarp%20on%20the%20ground%20and%20bang%20on%20the%20limbs%20with%20a%20bat.....that%20should%20make%20it%20easier:)%20I%20ended%20up%20with%202%20gallon%20size%20baggies%20full%20of%20berries.%20If%20your%20wondering%20what%20Mulberries%20taste%20like,%20to%20me%20they%20taste%20like%20blackberries,%20blueberries%20and%20acai%20berries,%20all%20wrapped%20into%20one%20delicious%20berry.%20I%20came%20home%20and%20froze%20the%20berries%20until%20I%20was%20ready%20to%20make%20jam.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESince%20Mulberries%20are%20loaded%20with%20seeds,%20I%20decided%20to%20cook%20the%20frozen%20berries%20down,%20stems%20and%20all.%20After%20I%20cooked%20down%20the%20berries,%20I%20squeezed%20the%20pulp%20and%20I%20ended%20up%20with%20a%201/2%20gallon%20of%20juice,%20and%20stained%20hands!!%20(Recipe%20follows)%20The%20recipe%20I%20used%20to%20make%20jelly%20called%20for%204%20cups%20juice,%20per%20batch.%20So%20I%20had%20plenty%20of%20juice%20for%20jelly.%20Next%20year,%20and%20now%20that%20I%20am%20more%20familiar%20with%20the%20berries,%20I%20want%20to%20harvest%20as%20many%20berries%20as%20possible.%20I%20want%20to%20freeze%20some%20whole%20to%20use%20in%20breads,%20muffins,%20scones%20and%20pancakes.%20I%20want%20to%20dry%20some%20of%20the%20berries%20in%20my%20food%20dehydrator,%20to%20use%20in%20baking,%20salads%20or%20to%20snack%20on,%20and%20make%20more%20jelly%20and%20jam.%20I%20even%20want%20to%20make%20Mulberry%20pie%20filling!!%20The%20possibilities%20are%20endless!!%20%20Pssst,%20They%20also%20have%20some%20Hickory%20Nut%20Trees:)%20Can't%20wait!!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ENow%20on%20to%20the%20Recipe~%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EJuice%20for%20Jelly~%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ESoft%20Fruits~%20Grapes,%20Cherries,%20Berries,%20etc.%20Select%20top-quality%20fruit.%20Wash%20and%20stem%20fruit.%20Slightly%20crush%20fruit.%20Add%201/4%20to%201/2%20cup%20water%20for%20each%20quart%20prepared%20fruit%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan.%20Cover;%20simmer%20fruit%20until%20soft.%20Strain%20mixture%20through%20a%20damp%20jelly%20bag%20or%20several%20layers%20of%20cheesecloth%20to%20extract%20juice.%20Juice%20may%20be%20used%20fresh,%20canned%20or%20frozen%20for%20later%20use.%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3ETo%20Make%20Jelly:%20Combine%20mulberry%20juice,%20classic%20pectin%20and%20lemon%20juice%20in%20a%20large%20saucepan.%20Bring%20to%20a%20boil%20over%20high%20heat.%20Add%20sugar,%20stirring%20constantly%20until%20dissolved.%20Return%20to%20a%20rolling%20boil.%20Boil%20hard%201%20minute,%20stirring%20constantly.%20Remove%20from%20heat.%20Skim%20foam%20if%20necessary.%20Ladle%20hot%20jelly%20into%20hot%20jars,%20leaving%201/4%20inch%20head-space.%20Adjust%20two-piece%20caps.%20Process%2010%20minutes%20in%20a%20boiling%20water%20canner.%20Recipes%20found%20in:%20Ball%20Blue%20Book,%20Guide%20to%20Preserving%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EA%20Special%20Thanks%20to%20Cindy%20at%20Just%20North%20of%20Wiarton%20for%20answering%20my%20call%20for%20Help!!%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
