This fruit salad is quite refreshing as a side to a rich meal and incorporates nice complementary contrasts with a touch of the exotic, orange flower water.

Directions

  1. Peel and slice oranges crosswise. Arrange attractively in concentric cirles on a large circular platter. You may need to make more than one layer. Scatter over each layer some chopped dates and slivered almonds. Sprinkle lightly with orange flower water and cinnamon. Repeat the process with remaining layers. Chill before serving. Sprinkle the top lightly with more cinnamon before serving.
  2. * Purchase orange flower water in Lebanese, Indian or middle-eastern markets and some stores which carry gourmet products.

This was great! The juicy sweetness of the oranges was a great foil for the dryer, chewy texture of the dates and almonds. The cinnamon accented the other flavors and tied the dish together. I did not use the orange flower water as I could not find it on short notice in Coeur d'Alene. I'll definitely have this this summer as a dessert with BBQ.
