Mom's Anisette Biscotti Recipe

I remember growing up always having a variety of cookies and pastries. One cookie that particularly stood out were always Biscotti. This is a recipe I've known my mother to make since I was just a child.

  1. Bake nuts on cookie sheet @ 350 until golden about 8 to ten minutes. Let cool. Place anise seeds in small bowl; add one tablespoon of the Sambuca and microwave about 15 seconds, set aside. In separate bowl cream butter, and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs add anise seed mixture, adding the remaining tablespoons of liquor. In another bowl, combine flour, b. powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture, mixing just until blended. Chop nuts coarsely and fold them in. Divide the dough in 1/2. On buttered, foil lined baking sheet, pat into two logs about 14 x 2 make about 2 to 3 inches apart. Bake @ 350 for about 25 minutes. Let cool five minutes on rack. Cut each log about 3/4 of an inch wide @ 45 degree angle...serrated knife. Stand upright on baking sheet and return to the oven for about ten minutes. let cool and store in an airtight container. These are great with coffee or tea!!

    I'm happy to share. I much rather Sambuca in the kitchen then drinking it as well. Now wine on the other hand, well that's a different story :) I'm glad you have found this recipe useful.

      During the holidays, I usually get a Sambuca bottle as part of our hosting gifts.
      I use it more in my kitchen as opposed to drinking it.

      Am I glad to have found your recipe...especially since I can't seem to find my Nonna's version.
