Ingredients

  • 8 c. popped regular flavor microwave popcorn (1 regular size bag)
  • 1/2 c. butter
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 7 x reg sized marshmallows Or possibly 1 loose packed c. mini marshmallows
  • 8 dsh green food coloring For Garnish: candied red cherries

Directions

  1. Put popped corn in a large bowl. Have a cookie sheet ready, lined with foil. Put butter, sugar and marshmallows in a 2 qt bowl. Microwave uncovered on HIGH 4-5 min, stirring twice, till sugar is dissolved and marshmallows are melted. Stir in food color a little at a time till mix is a bright green. Gradually pour over popped corn, tossing with a wooden spoon to coat proportionately. Drop by handfuls in a wreath shape on the foil lined sheet. Press firmly with hands to mold.
  2. Garnish with cherry halves. Let stand about 30 minutes until set. Store loosely covered in a cold dry place up to two weeks.
  3. ** I like to put a small ready made bow (which you can buy in pkgs. of 12) at the top to give it which final touch and place on a Christmas paper plate and wrap with colored plastic wrap.
  4. ** You can also make individual popcorn balls from this recipe if you prefer.
