Keik Me Mila (Apple Cake) Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 c. Thickly sliced,pared,apples Water as needed A little lemon juice
- 2 1/2 c. Flour
- 2 tsp Baking pwdr
- 3/4 c. Butter
- 1 1/2 c. Sugar
- 4 x Large eggs, separated
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 2 tsp Sugar for sprinkling
Directions
- Put apples into water with lemon juice. Sift flour and baking pwdr together. Cream butter and sugar till very light, and add in the egg yolks to them, one at at time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, beat the egg whites till stiff but not dry. Lightly fold flour and egg whites alternately into the batter with a wooden spoon. Butter a pan heavily, and dust it with flour and sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar.
- Pour the batter over the apples. Bake in a preheated 300 F. oven for 45 minutes. Cold completely before removing the cake from the pan.
