Hab-el-Hal (Cardamom Cookies)

Hab-el-hal,or cardamom cookies from Palestine.They are perfect to eat with coffee,tea or milk.These cookies are delicious and the flavor is wonderful!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cardamom
  • 1/8 cup milk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 180 C.
  2. Cream together egg, sugar, and butter in a medium mixing bowl.
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cardamom.
  4. Slowly add to egg & butter mixture and mix well.
  5. Add milk, if required to form dough.
  6. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface. You want the dough to be about 1/8 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to make shapes.
  7. Place on a lined cookie sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes.
