"Green Heron Inn" Buttermilk Coffee Cake Recipe

Ingredients
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. brown sugar
- 3/4 c. salad oil
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 c. walnuts, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 2 Large eggs, slightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
- 1 teaspoon soda
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. In a large mixing bowl, combine the first 6 ingredients; mix well. Reserve 1/2 c. of this mix and toss it with the walnuts and cinnamon in a small bowl. Set aside to use as a topping. Then to the original mixing bowl, add in the buttermilk, Large eggs, baking pwdr and soda. Blend thoroughly. Pour into the greased baking pan and sprinkle the topping over the batter. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 min or possibly till it tests done. Cold slightly and serve hot. Note: This is my favorite coffee cake recipe.
