Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb. lean bacon, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 c. small white onion, minced
  • 2 c. water
  • 2 c. chicken stock or vegetable stock
  • 7 whole allspice
  • 1/4 t. dried thyme (not ground)
  • 4 sprigs parsley, or 1 t. dried parsley
  • 3/4 c. diced potatoes
  • 1 c. green beans, cut into small bite-size pieces (I used what I had put up in the freezer last summer.)
  • 1/4 c. light cream
  • 1/2 T. butter
  • 1 t. salt
