Grandma Mullis' Famous Cranberry Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 c. butter
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 3/4 c. orange juice
  • 1 1/2 c. raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. fresh (or possibly frzn) cranberries

Directions

  1. Sift first 5 ingredients into large bowl. Cut butter into mix till crumbly. Add in egg, juice and peel all at once. Stir till mix is proportionately moist. Mix in raisins and cranberries.
  2. Spoon into greased 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 5 or possibly 10 min, or possibly till tester comes out clean. This bread tastes better and slices easier the second day when cool.
