Grandma Martin's Persimmon Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 C persimmon pulp
  • 1 C shortening (Crisco)
  • 1 C Sugar
  • 1 C Pecans or walnuts
  • 1 C Raisins
  • 2 C Flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 tsp baking soda, dissolved into persimmon pulp
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 pinch salt

Grandma Martin's Persimmon Cookies

 
 

Directions

  1. Cream together sugar and shortening, then add egg.
  2. Add all dry ingredients together.
  3. Mix dry ingredients into sugar mixture.
  4. Add nuts, raisins and pulp.
  5. Spoon onto ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350.

Grandma didn't always time things in the oven...she just knew when the cookies looked done. So, her recipe has no time listed. I'm going to make these as soon as I find persimmons and time it for you.
