This burger recipe doesn't stray too far from the classic burger but the fresh herbs just give it that little bit extra when you want something a bit more special.

Ingredients

Cost per serving $2.64 view details
  • 1kg good quality minced beef (ground chuck is best)
  • 1 small red onion, grated
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1/2 cup of fine breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 tsp of lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp of fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tbsp of fresh thyme, chopped
  • 1 tbsp of fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • Good pinch of salt and ground pepper

Directions

  1. 1. Mix all of the ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Only mix the ingredients until combined. Over handling will make the burgers tough.
  2. 2. Make fours balls of equal size and flatten down into burger shaped patties.
  3. 3. Heat a small amount of oil in a pan to a medium heat and fry the patties for around 4 minutes on each side depending on their thickness and the temperature of the pan. Avoid pressing down on the patties, you want to keep as much of the juice in as possible!
  4. 4. Serve in a very lightly toasted bun with lettuce and lemon mayonnaise - Perfect!
