Frozen Peanut Butter-Yogurt Dog Treats [Happy 8th Birthday, Einstein!]

I absolutely, positively cannot believe that Einstein turns EIGHT years old today… how is that even possible?!

While he is much more calm and a little more lazy than he was a handful of years ago, he’s still loving life. He and Duke have been running around like crazy outside now that there’s some snow on the ground, and Einstein loves to gallop into our family room with toy rings or a tennis ball in his mouth, ready to play.

I couldn’t let a birthday slip by without making him a special treat, and these frozen goodies were a home run with both him and Duke.

We’ve kept dog treats in the freezer before, so now anytime my Chief Culinary Consultant or I go in there for something, there are two Golden Retrievers that come running, hoping we’re going to pull out a treat. So, making treats that were meant for the freezer was a no-brainer. These yogurt-peanut butter treats are super easy to make and include one of Einstein’s most favorite foods – peanut butter!

I used a cookie scoop to make these, and then filled a bone-shaped cookie cutter with the mixture for an extra-special treat for him to enjoy with his birthday candle

Einstein stopped being amused less than 5 minutes after we started taking photos, but he will do absolutely anything and sit perfectly still if he thinks there will be some type of food in it for him when he’s done!

Naturally, Duke helped Einstein partake in celebratory treats… in true little brother form

I’m so grateful every day that Einstein continues to be a happy, healthy dog who loves life with us.
