Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients

  • 3 large green tomatoes, cored
  • 3/4 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 tbsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • Vegetable oil
  • 3 tbsp. bacon grease

Fried Green Tomatoes

Servings: 6 servings
 

Directions

  1. Cut tomatoes into thick slices. On waxed paper, mix flour with salt and pepper. Coat tomatoes and let sit 15 minutes.
  2. In skillet, heat 1/2 inch of oil and bacon grease over medium high heat. Lightly recoat tomatoes with flour mixture. Brown on both sides. About 1 1/2 minutes on each side.
