Fresh Blueberry Mojitos 3 comments / 0 reviews by Joanne • May 2, 2019 3 comments How to make fresh and simple blueberry mojitos with fresh (or frozen) blueberries, white rum, mint, and lime. Jump to the Blueberry Mojito Recipe or read on to see our tips for making it. How to Make Blueberry Mojitos These mojitos are simple to make and are adapted from our classic mojito recipe. You can use fresh or thawed frozen blueberries for this, so while it may look like a summer drink, this is totally doable all year round. (As long as you can find mint, that is). To make a blueberry mojito, bash blueberries, mint, and some sugar together then add white rum and a little club soda. Blueberries are wonderful in this, but if you have other berries on hand, use them. Raspberries, strawberries, or even blackberries are all amazing. In fact, you could even play around with adding another herb like fresh basil. How to make mojitos for a crowd To make mojitos in a pitcher, muddle the blueberries and mint into lime juice and sugar then stir in rum. If you plan on serving right away, add ice and top with club soda. If you are making the pitcher of mojitos in advance, wait to add the ice and club soda until you are ready to serve so it stays carbonated. Which rum is best for Mojitos? Traditionally, white rum is used to make mojitos. The rum you use doesn’t need to break the bank. A good quality, reasonably priced white rum will do the trick. If you cannot find fresh, sweet blueberries, thawed frozen berries work as a substitute. Makes 1 drinkYou Will Need8 blueberries (fresh or frozen and thawed), plus more for serving 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) fresh squeezed lime juice 2 teaspoons sugar 8 fresh mint leaves, plus more for serving 1/4 cup (2 ounces) white rum Ice 2 tablespoons (1 ounce) club soda Lime slice for serving DirectionsAdd blueberries, lime juice, sugar and eight mint leaves to a cocktail shaker. Use the end of a wooden spoon or cocktail muddler to bash (or muddle) the mint into the lime juice and sugar. This releases oils from the mint, breaks up the blueberries and helps the sugar dissolve into the lime juice. Add rum, stir well, and then pour into a glass filled with ice, leaving about an inch of room then top with club soda. Serve with extra blueberries, mint leaves, and a lime slice. Adam and Joanne's TipsTo make enough for four people follow these amounts: 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice, 3 tablespoons sugar, 32 fresh mint leaves, plus more for garnish, 1 cup white rum, 4 cups ice, 1/2 cup club soda, and 4 lime slices for garnish.
