Ingredients

  • 6 x Long warm dogs (each about 12 inches)
  • 1 Tbsp. Margarine or possibly butter, melted
  • 1 can (15 ounce.) chili with beans
  • 6 x Long warm dog buns, split
  • 3/4 c. Shredded Cheddar cheese (3 ounces)
  • 1 lrg Onion, minced ( 1 c.), if you like

Directions

  1. Brush grill rack with vegetable oil. Heat coals or possibly gas grill.
  2. Make crosswise diagonal cuts 1/2 inch apart and 1/4 inch deep in each warm dog. Grill warm dogs uncovered 4 to 5 inches from medium heat 15 to 20 min, turning frequently and brushing occasionally with margarine, till warm and slashes begin to open.
  3. Remove label and top from can of chili. Add in opened can of chili to grill for last 10 min of grilling, stirring occasionally, till warm. Serve warm dogs on buns with chili, cheese and onion.
  4. Yield: 6 servings
