Directions

  1. 1. Place yeast in a bowl with the 1/4 cup of the warm water and stir until dissolved. Add remaining water, oil, salt and flour and mix well. Cover bowl and let rise in warm place until doubled in size.
  2. 2. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it is shiny and elastic.
  3. 3. Place dough in an oiled baking tray. Press dough into tray and let rise again for at least 30 minutes.
  4. 4. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F and mix the topping ingredients.
  5. 5. When raised, make several “holes” all over the dough with finger about 1/4 inches deep.
  6. 6. Brush on topping.
  7. 7. Bake for about 20 minutes or until the bread is a lightly golden brown.

      By hand, usually takes me 10 to 15 minutes. In my old age, I cheat and use the kitchen aid to knead :-)
