Flourless Chocolate Walnut Torte with Pinot-Noir-Laced Strawberries Recipe
Ingredients
- Egg yolks mixed with sugar until pale yellow in color
- Egg whites mixed with sugar, until stiff glossy peaks form
- Fold ingredients together and pour into prepared springform pan

%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EUse%20a%20nice%20bottle%20of%20pinot.%20You%20can%20drink%20the%20rest!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStrawberries,%20pinot%20noir%20and%20sugar%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EStart%20to%20finish,%20this%20recipe%20took%20about%20an%20hour,%20then%20it%20needed%20time%20to%20cool.%20We%20didn't%20bother%20with%20the%20whipped%20cream,%20but%20sprinkled%20each%20slice%20with%20a%20light%20dusting%20of%20confectioner's%20sugar.%20The%20torte%20was%20light%20as%20air,%20with%20lots%20of%20crunch%20from%20the%20nuts%20and%20hints%20of%20chocolate%20that%20weren't%20too%20overpowering.%20The%20pinot-noir-laced%20berries%20were%20divine,%20with%20their%20intense%20berry-sweetness.%20We%20loved%20it,%20neighbors%20B,%20D%20and%20J%20loved%20it,%20and%20Joanne%20loved%20it.%20This%20one's%20a%20real%20keeper!%3C/p%3E%3Cp%3EIn%20a%20medium%20bowl,%20combine%20the%20sugar%20and%20Pinot%20Noir.%20Whisk%20until%20the%20sugar%20is%20dissolved.%20Add%20the%20strawberries%20and%20allow%20to%20sit%20for%202-3%20hours.%20Preheat%20the%20oven%20to%20350%20degrees.%20Line%20the%20bottom%20of%20a%209-inch%20springform%20pan%20with%20a%20round%20of%20parchment%20paper.%20In%20a%20large%20bowl,%20beat%20the%20egg%20yolks%20until%20pale%20in%20color.%20Gradually%20beat%20in%20the%201/2%20cup%20sugar%20and%20continue%20beating%20until%20the%20mixture%20is%20thickened.%20In%20another%20large%20bowl,%20beat%20the%20egg%20whites%20until%20foamy.%20Gradually%20beat%20in%20the%205%20tablespoons%20of%20sugar%20into%20the%20egg%20whites,%20one%20tablespoon%20at%20a%20time.%20Continue%20to%20beat%20until%20stiff,%20glossy%20peaks%20form.%20Alternately%20fold%20the%20chopped%20chocolate,%20chopped%20walnuts%20and%20egg%20white%20meringue%20mixture%20into%20the%20yolk%20mixture%20by%20thirds%20until%20well%20blended.%20Pour%20into%20the%20parchment-lined%20springform%20pan%20and%20bake%20about%2030%20minutes,%20until%20the%20torte%20is%20firm%20to%20the%20touch,%20does%20not%20jiggle%20when%20shaken,%20has%20risen%20to%20the%20top%20of%20the%20pan,%20and%20has%20turned%20golden%20brown.%20Remove%20from%20the%20oven%20and%20allow%20to%20cool%20inside%20the%20pan%20on%20a%20wire%20rack.%20Once%20cooled,%20run%20a%20knife%20around%20the%20edges%20of%20the%20pan%20to%20detach.%20Invert%20onto%20a%20plate%20and%20peel%20off%20the%20parchment%20paper.%20Invert%20again%20onto%20a%20serving%20plate.%20Cut%20the%20torte%20into%20wedges%20and%20top%20with%20strawberries%20and%20a%20dusting%20of%20confectioners%20sugar.%3C/p%3E){kind=link}
