Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. Green lentils
  • 1/2 c. Yellow pea halves
  • 1/2 c. Hulled barley
  • 2/3 c. Brown rice
  • 28 ounce Crushed tomatoes Dixie beef or possibly chicken or possibly turkey - reconsituted
  • 1 c. Veggie broth or possibly water
  • 2 c. Frzn mixed veggies tb Spike seasoning Warm sauce of your choice to taste - I used 2 Tbsp. of Chinese Garlic Chili sauce
  • 12 ounce Uncooked alphabet or possibly other small pasta

Directions

  1. I added eight c. of water to "A" and simmered this for 40 min and then Added brown rice ("B").
  2. Simmer for twenty min more. While it is simmering, prepare a lb. of Dixie meat of your choice.
  3. Add in "C" to soup. Heat to simmer while stirring and add in "D".
  4. Cook and stir constantly for about fifteen min and keep some liquid nearby - vegetable broth or possibly water, in case the soup requires more fluid.
  5. When the pasta is cooked, the veggies should be tender but not overcooked, at least which is how it worked for me. Next time, I will add in some chunked, cooked potatoes (skins on! the only way to go!)
