Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler

Ingredients

  • 1 Box White Cake Mix
  • 1 Twelve Ounce Can of 7-Up
  • 1/2 Cup of Sugar
  • 8 Peaches

Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler

Time: 10 minutes prep, 20 minutes cook
Servings: 8 sm serv
 

Directions

  1. Peel and quarter your peaches. Place them in the dutch oven. Sprinkle your sugar on top of the peaches. In a separate bowl mix the white cake mix and your can of 7-Up. The mixture will be lumpy. Pour the cake mixture on top pf the peaches. Put lid on your dutch oven.
  2. Place dutch oven on top of about 20 coals and place about 10 on top. Depending upon the heat of your coals it will take about 15-20 minutes but check occasionally to see if the cake is a golden brown.
  3. Serve Hot.

A rediculously simple recipe for cobbler.

    You may also use any flavor soda like orange or peach instead of 7UP. A large can of peaches could also be used instead of fresh peaches then the sugar is not needed. Yellow cake mix can also be used. No need to mix the cake mix and soda. Just dump the dry cake mix on top of the peaches then sprinkle the soda over top, no mixing necessary. Shake out a good amount of cinnamon on top for great flavor and a finishing touch. Often used at BSA Camp.

      I've made an apple cake in the dutch oven while the family camps. We use a can of apple pie filling, a box of white cake mix and a can of creme soda as well as a stick of butter. Wonderful!!
