Deviled Swiss Steak

Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 3 pound round steak, cut 1 1/2" thick
  • 1/4 c. veg. oil
  • 1/2 c. water + 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (3 ounce.) can broiled mushroom crowns, liquid removed

Deviled Swiss Steak

Directions

  1. Combine flour, salt, pepper and dry mustard. Sprinkle mix over steak and lb. into meat with meat mallet. In heavy iron skillet, brown steak slowly on both sides in warm oil. Add in combined water and Worcestershire sauce to browned meat. Cover tightly and cook over very low heat for 1 3/4 to 2 hrs or possibly till tender. Serve with mushrooms that have been heated in small amount of butter. Garnish with parsley.
