St. Patrick's Day Beef Stew with Guinness by John SpottiswoodThis is a great Beef Stew adapted from a recipe by Margaret Johnson. We doubled the recipe, used about half the butter, and added plenty of salt and black pepper. We also cooked it about 5 hours ahead of time and let it sit in the pot for another 3 hours after it was done cooking. It was awesome. |

Hungarian Gulyas Soup by Gyula SziraczkyThis is my really first recipe I've ever "published"...anywhere. So I thought that a traditional, very traditional, Hungarian dish would be appropriate (since I was born in Hungary). The best way to make this soup is to cook it outside in a "bogracs" (a small, round metal pot with handles) over real fire! Try it and you will never… |

Austrian Goulash by FoodiewifeThis recipe was taught to me by my Bavarian Mutti. I have, since, tried to measure and journal how to make this wonderful stew. This stew is made with beef chuck, a combination of hot and mild paprika (I use quality imported paprika) with a touch of caraway seeds. Served over spaetzle, buttered noodles or with tradition Semmel… |

Prep time for me is about 1 1/2 to 2hr and I am a Chef. The first time I did this about 20 years ago it took me 6 hr. to get it all done. That is cooking time also and it was at home. Beef with Barley and Wild Rice by John SpottiswoodI went to Russia a few months ago and had a delicious lunch of Beef over barley and wild rice. It was substantial and healthy, so I promised myself that I would try to copy it. This is what I came up with. If you try it, I don't think you will be disappointed. It's delicious! |

This preparation, which has a richly flavored gravy chock full of vegetables, is absolutely fantastic. It's also beautiful to serve (don't be discouraged by the picture)! A perfect dish for a dinner party. You're guests will rave about it. |

Peposo alla Fornacina by Gino la TillaSorry for doubling my recipe, I act before thinking, the correct language should be english. Peposo alla Fornacina is one of that historical recipes of italian popular cuisine that if you do it respecting the old rules produce a tasty but “not refined” dish. I developed it in my own way using tricks and tips received or stolen from… |

Corned Beef & Cabbage with a Tangy Glaze by FoodiewifeWho doesn't like to make Corned Beef & Cabbage around St. Patrick's Day? What makes this recipe just a little bit unique is that the brisket is slowly cooked (in a Dutch Oven or a Slow Cooker) in the liquid and spice packet. Once the brisket is removed, a tangy apple cider/brown sugar glaze is poured over it and it's baked, while the… |
