Cumin Rice by Joyce LeungThis rice is a delicious mix of cumin and cinnamon. It provides a nice, slightly sweet flavor, that is a perfect complement to any middle eastern dish. The only dishes I would avoid serving this with are sweet dishes with dates, figs, etc. I served it with my Braised Lamb with Beans. It was great! |

Baked date pudding by Peter BrownA Cape Malay recipe as reproduced on I Africa "an olden time dessert learnt from granny." It always takes me back to my very young childhood days when I used to spend rainy days in my gran's large old kitchen in Bredasdorp with its wood-burning stove, keeping warm and enjoying the smells that came from the oven. |
