Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking pwdr
  • 4 c. sugar
  • 4 teaspoon salt (or possibly to taste)
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 c. lowfat milk
  • 1 tbsp. salad oil
  • 3 lg. onions
  • Oil (to fry)

Directions

  1. Sift together flour, baking pwdr, sugar and salt. In deep bowl beat egg. Add in lowfat milk and salad oil. Stir in dry ingredients, beating till smooth. Slice onions about 1/4" thick and separate into rings. Dip each ring into batter till completely coated. Fry in 3" deep oil heated to 375 degrees till golden. Turn once. Drain on paper towels. Serves 4.
