Ingredients

  • 3 c. Heavy cream
  • 6 x Egg yolks
  • 6 x Tablesp. granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 c. Brown sugar, sifted
  • 2 x To 3 c. strawberries or possibly cut-up pineapple or possibly peaches or possibly a mix of

Directions

  2. Day before:1. In bottom of double boiler, heat cream until scalded. In double-boiler top, beat yolks with granulated sugar. Slowly stir cream into yolks.
  3. Cook mix over warm, not boiling, water till it coats spoon. Add in vanilla. Chill in 1- to 1 1/2-quart. ovenware casserole or possibly flat baking dish.
  4. Just before serving:1. Over custard, sprinkle brown sugar.
  5. Set custard dish in pan; surround with ice cubes. Broil custard until sugar caramelizes-about 1 minutes.
  6. Breaking brown-sugar crust by tapping with spoon, serve at once over fruits, in nappy dishes or possibly sherbet glasses.
  7. Makes 6 servings.
