Old-fashioned Icebox Rolls

Old-fashioned Icebox Rolls by myra byanka

Make the dough and keep it in the reefer for up to a week. Bake rolls when you want fresh ones. I usually let the dough stay in the fridge a few days for extra good flavor.

Zucchini Bread

Zucchini Bread by Carolinaheartstrings

I love this recipe. This was one of my cousin Laura’s. She loved to bake when we were teenagers and bread was one of her favorite things to make. I had completely forgotten about this wonderful recipe until I was searching through my tin file for something to make for Sweet Taste of Saturday. Your family will love this sweet,…

Sourdough Rye Bread

Sourdough Rye Bread by MT C

Basically a white bread with the goodness of rye and caraway. A very simple straight forward recipe with honey being the only preservative added. The step for developing the gluten can be left out. I haven't done that in two years now and there is really very little taste difference.

Josey Baker's No Knead Bread for Beginners

Josey Baker's No Knead Bread for Beginners by myra byanka

I bought Mr. Baker's book "Josey Baker Bread," as I was looking for a gift for relative who wants to learn how to make bread. The book is well-written, albeit a little too hip for my taste, but it was written for young people, not old ladies. That being said, following is the first recipe, which is similar to Lahey's, except the bulk…

Cinnamon Buns. Yum, Yum by Michael Swiney

My youngest, Kyle has really been turned onto cooking, He has been coming into the kitchen a lot lately asking if he can help. Last night I made some store bought Cinnamon Buns. Teff Date Nut Coffee Quick Bread

Teff Date Nut Coffee Quick Bread by Linda Simon

Is this temping or what? I like to play with my food, and new ingredients. There was a bag of teff flour in the freezer, calling me. There were a couple of ideas floating around in my head. And I searched online for other ideas. There aren’t many recipes online for teff. Maybe because teff is hard to find, it is expensive, and…

Golden Honey Oat Bread

Golden Honey Oat Bread by Rose Levy Beranbaum

I’ve been working for a long time on a healthful bread with delicious flavor but also my ideal of a perfect texture. The result is this nutritious bread which is also amazingly light, soft, and slightly chewy with lovely crunch from the flax seed. The wheatiness of the whole wheat, flax and oat or barley flakes together with the…
