Cottage Pie

Ingredients

  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion,finely chopped
  • 150ml beef stock,using a beef stock cube
  • 2 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1 tsp dried mixed herbs
  • 4 tsp gravy granules
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 7-8 potatoes,chopped

Cottage Pie

Time: 15 minutes prep, 1 hours cook
Servings: 4
 

Directions

  1. Put the potatoes into a large pan,fill with water to cover and boil them for about 30 mins.
  2. Meanwhile,fry the mince with the onions until the beef has browned.
  3. Add the beef stock,tomato ketchup,worcerstershire sauce,mixed herbs and parsley,give it a good stir.
  4. Leave to simmer for about 15 minutes.
  5. Then add the gravy granules (this will help to thicken the mixture) and add seasoning to suit your taste.
  6. Place the beef mince mixture into a greased ovenproof dish.
  7. When the potatoes have cooked,drain and mash them.
  8. Spread the mashed potato on top of the beef mixture and bake in a preheated oven for 30 mins.
