Chicken Fried Steak, I'm not sure where the name comes from because this isn't how I make Chicken. All I know is that it's delicious. Part greasy, part beefy and all good.

  • 3 Lbs. Cubed Steak
  • 3 Cups Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Cabela's Open Season Whiskey Steak Seasoning
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. Paprika
  • 3 Large Brown Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Whole Milk
  • Cream Gravy
  • Canola Cooking Oil

Directions

  1. Mix together Flour, Pepper, Paprika and Whiskey Steak Seasoning in a Medium size bowl.
  2. The Whiskey Steak Seasoning you can get from Cabela's Outdoor store, if you don't have on close by than you can order it online or from their catalog
  3. Set aside.
  4. Mix together Milk and Eggs in a medium size bowl.
  5. Beat with a whisk until frothy.
  6. Pour enough oil into a large Skillet to cover the pan about 1/4 inches thick.
  7. Heat oil up to 350 degrees.
  8. Set you bowl of Egg Mixture and bowl of Flour Mixture side by side
  9. Wash your cubed Steak in cool water and cut each Piece in Half.
  10. Dip the Steak into the Egg Mixture.
  11. Then dip into the Flour Mixture, coating both sides.
  12. Now do it all over again
  13. Dip the Steak into the Egg Mixture again.
  14. Then the Flour Mixture.
  15. This gives it a double coating that sticks to the meat and the breading won't fall off during frying.
  16. Put the battered Cubed Steak into the Hot Skillet.
  17. Cook for 5 minutes and turn with a Rubber Spatula.
  18. Fry the Steak on each side for about 5 minutes or until browned.
  19. Don't overcook the Steak or it will be tough like rawhide.
  20. While your Meat is cooking get a large Plate and put 6 or 7 Paper Towels on the top and set by the Skillet.
  21. Once cooked put the Chicken Fried Steak on the plate with Paper Towels to drain.
  22. Mix up a batch of Cream Gravy and pour over your Chicken Fried Steak, and don’t forget the Mashed Potatoes. Enjoy!
