Ingredients

  • 14 ounce tomato sauce small can
  • 10 ounce fresh mushrooms sliced Italian seasoning
  • 6 x chicken breast halves without skin
  • 1/4 c. red wine
  • 8 ounce pasta cooked garlic pwdr optional

Directions

  1. Spray crockpot liner with non-stick cooking spray for easy clean-up.
  2. Place chicken in crockpot.
  3. Sprinkle generously with seasoning.
  4. Put mushrooms on top of chicken.
  5. Pour in tomato sauce and wine.
  6. Cook on low for about 5 hrs. If dish won't be served till later, remove chicken and chill.
  7. You can let sauce continue to cook on low for several hrs.
  8. About 15 min prior to serving, return chicken to pot. Serve over warm noodles of choice. (I like bow-tie shape for this.)
  9. NOTES : This meal was made with "slim pickins" from my pantry during an ice storm. It went over well with most of my family. Even one teenage girl who "never eats spaghetti sauce" loved it. The other teenage daughter wasn't hungry (too many school snacks), and my 9 year old son seemed to accept it. My husband has already requested it again.
