Bulger Wheat Bread Or Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 c. water plus 1 c. Bulger
  • 4 packages. yeast (dry)
  • 1/2 c. hot water (110 degrees)
  • 1 1/2 c. lowfat milk (scald & cold)
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 6 T brown sugar
  • 4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 7 c. flour (or possibly more as needed)

Directions

  1. Soak bulger in water till most of the liquid is absorbed (overnight). Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Add in lowfat milk, brown sugar, shortening, salt and large eggs. Add in flour till soft dough forms. Knead till smooth and pliable, not sticky. Raise till doubled. Punch down and form into loaves (3) or possibly rolls. Let rise, covered, till double. Bake at 350 degrees till done.
