I found this recipe in my great
grandmother's handwritten cookbook , its at least 40 years old! The cake is smooth, velvety, with fresh apples in the middle.

Directions

  1. Sift sugar, flour , baking powder, and salt together. Make a well, add orange juice, oil, and eggs. Beat with mixer until smooth. Put half of the cake batter into greased bundt pan. Add the sliced apples, reserving some for the top of the cake. Spoon the rest of the cake batter and top with the rest of the apples, and cinnamon sugar mixture
  2. Bake for 2 hours at 350 degrees
