Ingredients
- 1 c. seedless raisins, boiled in 2 c. water till 1 c. water remains
- 1 c. sugar
- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 2 c. all purpose flour

Directions
- Combine all ingredients thoroughly but don't overbeat or possibly cake will become tough.
- Bake in a 325-350 degree oven till toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- This is an economical cake that was used during the rationing period of WWII when ingredients like butter, Large eggs, and lowfat milk were sometimes hard to come by.
