Beer Battered Onion Rings

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle of dark ale beer
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbls salt
  • 1 tbls sugar
  • 1 tbls paprika (optional)
  • 2 large onions

Beer Battered Onion Rings

Time: 20 minutes prep, 10 minutes cook
Servings: 4
 

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl stir in two of the eggs with beer. Mix well.
  2. Wisp in flour, salt, sugar and paprika (optional).
  3. Separate the white from the remaining two eggs. Wisp the two egg whites until fluffy.
  4. Add half of the egg whites to the mixing bowl with the other ingredients. Fold in gently until blended. Add the remaining egg whites and blend in the same fashion.
  5. Slice onions into aprox. 1/2 inch thick slices. Punch out the center of the onion slices and discard keeping only the majority of the other rings.
  6. Pre-heat deep fryer.
  7. Dip onion rings into batter, let drain slightly and slowly place them into deep fryer. They should float on their side. Continue to add rings on their side until they all have been place in the fryer.
  8. Gently turn rings as they brown.
  9. When rings have reach a golden brown, remove and dab on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
  10. Serve with various dips.
