These are best eaten as dessert but can do as a mini meal(Snack) at ten with tea for children and yes adults! best doen with sweet bananas!

Ingredients

  • 1 Kg of ripe but firm sweet bananas
  • juice of one lemon
  • oil for frying
  • 4 large egg whites
  • 1 cup self raising flour
  • 1 cup skimmed milk
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Directions

  1. Peel the bananas and place them on a platter
  2. sprinkle the lemon juice to avoid oxidation
  3. sieve the dry ingredients four times to give enough air into the batter
  4. pour in the milk
  5. in a separate glass bowl thoroughly beat the egg whites until almost stiff and fold them into the flour mixture slowly without mixing
  6. Heat the oil in a deep frying pan
  7. take the peeled bananas and roll them one by one into the mixture it and placing it immediately into the hot oil
  8. fry until just ready(golden brown)
  9. repeat until all the bananas are done.
  10. for dessert, sprinkle caster sugar and serve with side whipped sweetened cream, for mini meal, serve as is with tea, coffee or drinking chocolate or milk for children
