Balsamic Fig Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Fresh figs, preferably Black Mission, minced
  • 1/3 c. Red wine
  • 1 Tbsp. Balsamic vinegar
  • 1 pch Salt
  • 1/8 tsp Freshly grnd pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 sprg fresh thyme

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients with 1/2 c. water in a saucepan. Cover; bring to boil over high heat. Reduce to a simmer; cook, partially covered, till fruit has broken down, about 20 to 30 min. Let cold slightly; remove thyme sprig. Press mix through a large-holed sieve with a rubber spatula.
