Ingredients

  • 9 slices white bread - French bread is best
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 tall can evaporated lowfat milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 egg yolks, beaten
  • 1/3 c. melted butter
  • 2 c. lowfat milk
  • 1/2 c. raisins

Directions

  1. Break bread into small pcs. Pour evaporated lowfat milk over to soften. Add in sugar, lowfat milk, egg yolks, vanilla and melted butter. Mix well. Pour into buttered 10 x 8 x 2 inch baking dish and bake at 375 degrees till set.Remove from oven and spread a thin layer of tart jelly on top when cool. Make a meringue of 4 egg whites, and 1/3 cup sugar. Top pudding and bake at 325 degrees till brown.
