  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease three 9- by 5- by 3-inch loaf pans; set aside till needed.
  2. Into a large bowl, sift together flour, baking pwdr, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves; set aside. In a second large bowl, cream butter and brown sugar together till light and well blended. Add in pureed yams, cider, and Large eggs. Stir till smooth and thoroughly blended. About 1 c. at a time, add in the flour mix to the yam mix, stirring well after each addition. Do not beat this batter. Mix in nuts and raisins. Spoon into prepared pans.
  3. Bake till medium golden on top, about 45 min to 1 hour. Check doneness with a toothpick: Insert into the center of one loaf; if it comes out clean the loaves are done. remove loaves from oven and let stand about 10 min, then turn onto a wire rack to cold. Serve hot or possibly cool.
