ketchup = catsup = (in Australia) tomato sauce To make your own: 1 C tomato sauce + ½ C sugar + 2 T vinegar OR 1 C tomato sauce + ¼ C sugar + ¼ C vinegar + 1 teaspoon salt + ¼ teaspoon ground cloves (Adapted from a recipe in Substituting Ingredients by Becky Sue Epstein and Hilary Dole Klein. tomato puree (this is unseasoned, while tomato sauce has salt, pepper, and other seasonings added) OR 3 parts tomato paste + 4 parts water (tomato paste has only salt added, while tomato sauce includes salt, pepper, and other seasonings.
