About me
I have been married for 37 years and have 3 grown children and 1 grand-daughter of 2 1/2 years old. I work full time and enjoy cooking and baking for my family, friends and various & sundry crowds. I am addicted to cook books. I also do home recipe testing for an online food magazine. What a great hobby! Not only do I get to try these recipes 6 or 8 months or so before publication, but sometimes I have some small input into the finished recipe. I also coach archery 3 or 4 times a year for the bow club I belong to, and have been certified to teach ceramics for about 18 years. I love to travel. My husband and I have traveled to Europe, Australia and across Canada & the Northern USA. I really love to try new things. As a cancer survivor I relish new experiences perhaps a little more now.
Cooking Influences
I LOVE to read cookbooks! I must have over 200, but have had to thin the herd by boxing some up because of space issues. My new favorite is Pickles, Pigs & Whiskey by John Currence. Still some of my favorites are some from America's Test Kitchen, and have many others about many different cuisines. I also have a couple of Nigella Lawson's books, but I use those more for reading than cooking. I really love Jacques Pepin, and am a big fan of Donna Hay, Mario Batali, Nigel Slater and Michael Smith. I am all about fresh and seasonal if at all possible. In fact I think I've influenced my oldest daughter and my son and they are both awesome home cooks. My other daughter, well she must take after her father, since even cooking rice is a challenge.
