Strawberry Coconut Smoothie

Recipe Summary & Steps

Quench your thirst for a milkshake with this lower sugar Strawberry Coconut Smoothie!

Hi there! It’s Andi from The Weary Chef. I recently confessed on Instagram that I don’t really like fruity smoothies very much. I’m OK with fruit in them of course, but I need a creamy base like yogurt or ice cream to make me want to drink them. Basically, I want a milkshake. When I tried to be a grownup and order this green smoothie, it sadly ended up in the trashcan.

While I love a sweet, creamy milkshake smoothie, sometimes I really do need to be a grownup and have a healthier drink for a cool treat. Ice cream and flavored yogurts are loaded with sugar, so what’s a girl to do? Use coconut, that’s what. I came up with this creamy, refreshing, low-sugar strawberry coconut smoothie that pleased grownups and kids alike. It’s still creamy but a lot healthier than a milkshake.

To boost the coconut flavor, I added unsweetened flaked coconut. This added some texture that you could see as a good or bad thing depending on how smooth you want your smoothie. If you like a little chewiness in your drink, then go for it and add the coconut. If you prefer a perfectly smooth sipping experience, then leave it out. Either way, you will love this tall, cool Strawberry Coconut Smoothie!
