Eeh gads! I looked at the calorie content of a McDonald’s Shamrock Shake recently and just about passed out! 580-895 calories, and oh how I love those things! I had a hankering with the great Irish Holiday coming up but just couldn’t bring myself to indulge that much, so I whipped this up instead and it hit the spot!

My favorite way to eat/drink the ones from McDonald’s is half Shamrock shake half Chocolate shake and a small fry. So I added a little chocolate syrup to this one (skipped the fries) and had a really healthy (just kidding) shake that tasted very similar…

St. Patty's Day Shake

Yield: 1 shake

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups low fat vanilla ice cream
  • 3/4 cup skim milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • 4 drops green food coloring
  • Whipped topping out of the can for the top
  • green sprinkles

Directions:

In a blender, add the ice cream, milk, peppermint extract and food coloring and mix until smooth-you made need to add a little more milk if it is too thick.

Pour into a tall glass, top with whipped topping and sprinkle with green sprinkles

PS: Mine doesn't look so green because I added about 1 tablespoon of Hershey's syrup to it
