Ingredients

  • 1 California roast or possibly 2 pound lean stewing beef
  • 1 pkg. onion soup mix (drain)
  • 3/4 c. minced celery leaves
  • 1/2 c. minced parsley
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 tbsp. sugar, white or possibly brown
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed basil
  • 1/2 c. chili sauce
  • 1/2 c. catsup

Directions

  1. Cut roast into small pcs. Sprinkle with onion mix. Add in next 9 ingredients. Bake 2 1/2 to 3 hrs in 300 degree oven. In saucepan, cook amount needed of potatoes, carrots, celery and peas. Remove meat from oven. Skim off any fat. Thicken liquid with 2 Tbsp. cornstarch and 1/4 c. water. Mix till smooth. Add in cooked vegetables.
