Mom's French Salad Dressing Recipe

This is a salad dressing my Mom made for our family when I was a kid growing up in Nebraska. My brother loved the stuff. There is one very similar posted on CES but I thought I would post my Mom's as well. I don't know where she got the recipe; perhaps from an old 1950's cookbook or from a newspaper. It keeps well refrigerated. It isn't necessary to emulsify the oil but it makes for a creamy texture. It may seperate a bit in the refrigerator. If so shake well to combine ingredients again.

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients except the Canola Oil in a blender and puree until completely combined and very smooth.
  2. Gradually in a slow steady stream add the Canola Oil until the mixture is completely emulsified and a thick creamy texture.

A great idea on using the Splenda. I just made the original recipe last night but will definitely try the Splenda in the next batch. Thanks for the idea. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for your review.

        Hi,

Am making this tomorrow night. Has a lot less sugar than my go-to recipe.

Adding this to my try soon list too, Bob. I haven't made this sort of sweet french dressing before. I like this sort of dressing on a traditional spinach salad.
