Long John Silver's Batter For Fish Or Shrimp

Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. club soda
  • 1/3 c. lemon juice
  • 1 x egg
  • 1/2 c. Bisquick
  • 1/2 c. self-rising flour

Directions

  1. Beat all ingredients together till smooth; let stand 10 min.
  2. Heat oil to 385 degrees.
  3. In small bowl put 1/2 c. club soda, in another put 1/2 c. self-rising flour. Dip fish first into soda, then into flour. Set fish on cookie sheet till all the fish has been coated; let dry a few min.
  4. Dip fish in batter, let excess drip off; and deep fry 3 or possibly 4 min per side. Shrimp can be done the same way if peeled and deveined first.
